Show 31 This And That Podcast

Show 31 This And That Podcast
(week of September 26, 2005)

39 minutes | 27.6 MB

We're trying for shorter shows so we put a timer in the studio with us this week. Pat doesn't like it! (surprise, surprise). Pat's mic cable shorts out at the beginning of the show (listen for it! ooh). Luckily Engineer George had extras. Jeff talks about some recent movies, Pat tells about her awful doggity week, and the kids discuss a couple of items from the news. We also have a 7-11 update and the Dallas Minute.

Please vote for us on Podcast Alley through the button above (if you think we deserve your vote). It's a tiny effort but means a great deal for this little podcast. Also, do make sure to vote for the other podcasts you really like!

Great show as usual! This choking thing the kids are doing does sound scary. A lot scarier than when I was in highschool in the early 90's. I never did this but some of my friends did something similar that they called a "Space Monkey" where you'd stand with your back against a wall and bend over like you're touching your toes. Take 30 (I think) deep breaths and then stand up and a friend pushes on your chest. Hopefully your friend is nice enough to catch you when you pass out. Just thought I'd share, keep up the good work!

I gotta be honest - I'm liking the mid-week release. It gives me something to look forward to...normally I blow my wad on Monday or Tuesday and I'm left endulging my narcisstic side listening to reruns of my own damn self for the rest of the week. Nice show guys.

Pat - for the record - I'm a beer lover, and I love all kinds of beers, and, while on any given day, something more exotic might be my favorite, Miller Lite, for me, is my regular fridge-stock beer, and I never get tired of it. It's lite, it's refreshing, and it's the original low carb beer (since before low carb was cool). On the other hand, the straw has GOT to go.

    Keep up the good work.

Pat... beer through a straw?! Maybe cider... but not beer.

For Jeff, I think this show has showcased more of his... ummmm... wit. "Bits, you say... Help you I will." Dude, the bits are great, and you've never disappointed before. Allow your mind to float and your imagination to run like a little puppy dog from Wonder Woman... more on that later. Now that the call out has come, though , I'll wrack my own brain a bit. Maybe I could do like a "genre of the week" thing or something like that :p

As for Pat, I think this was the weirdest combination of Pat-titude that I've heard yet to date. First, there's the beer, and I think we can all admit that's a little goofy. Then there's the image of Pat in her Wonder Woman outfit chasing the doggie outside the 7-11. Ok, she wasn't actually in the outfit, but I can only imagine that someone doing such dynamic super-hero style work such as rescuing a puppy from traffic would wear some kind of uniform. Ahhh... Wonder Woman. Sorry, I digress. I digress though, because the other image was of Pat using Altoids to... ummm... enhance her experiences. Ahhh... Wonder Woman and curiously strong mints. Sorry, I need to stop before I lose my train of thought... Nope, it's already gone.

Another 30 or so minutes of my life I've enjoyed and will remember fondly... until next week, when ya'll shall top yourselves again.

    Wow - such wonderful comments!

Joe - thanks for the vote. And Ferg and I have talked before about some sort of collaboration - Xmas may be the ticket for that! Oh wait a minute - that takes preparation doesn't it? lol I really do love doing the songs - but I am pretty slow with it and it does take me time. But I'll always be trying.

Ferg - ML? I wish I could like it - it IS cheap. lol. I just can't beyond the 'artificial carbonation'....

Phil - WOW. Kids. They sure are weird people.

Jeff & Pat - I want to let ya know that I am not enjoying the mid-week podcasting. It has really messed up my listening schedule... I'd post our show, listen to AirFerg & This and That on the weekend, and fill in with the rest o' my casts during the week. Now, Itunes downloaded this ep. earlier in the week and I didn't notice it until today! I feel so behind.

Pat - nice work with the Miller Light in the studio. Breakin' the law, breakin' the law! ;)

    Oh, shut it, Melton.
We all don't have a "mom" that we can just let come in and let run her mouth for 2 hours, do we? Some of us actually have to create content...

Great show, guys. Listened to y'all for the first time, courtesy of the link on Israelisms.com. So Jeff, your birthday wishes to Carol brought you a new listener!!

Highly amusing stuff, and I'll remain a listener. Comments from the top of my brain:

--You're exactly right on with the comments about Natalee Holloway's mom. Living in Birmingham, we of course have been on Natalee-overload since May. While I feel for the family, I agree with you. Her mom has no idea who is guilty and who is not -- she wasn't there!! And while I can't imagine what she is going through with losing her only daughter, she has been an absolute media hound. I for one am sick of her.

--The 7-11 talk made me crave a Slurpee. Can you believe, we have NO 7-11s here in Central Alabama? It's a crime against nature, I tell ya.

--Re Iraqi women: the perverse paradox of this whole stupid war is this: if true democracy actually comes to Iraq, we may not like the people they elect to office!! The Iraqi people may elect the most fanatical, most radical, most anti-American person that runs!! But, in a true democracy -- that's the way the cookie crumbles...

--Pat....I heard you say something about "when I was at Florida State..." My condolences. I'm very sorry you had to spend any time in that savage, uncivilized place. Go Gators!! :D
